When the bough breaks

Today I was driving with Finn in the car and we were listening to a radio show about global warming and song birds. He asked lots of questions including “if it is killing birds that fast, is it killing mammals even faster? If the poles melt, the ocean will flood the land, right?” Then he said “thank you for letting me hear that mommy, I know you always keep the news off to protect me but I think it is time I know about the world.” He’s right but I meant it to be covert. He shouldn’t know I’m protecting him, he should live in five year old oblivion a little longer. No Finn, it is not time to learn about the news version of the world. It is time to dig holes, sing songs and play Legos. You have a long long time to know all the rest.
